Mr. Swaib Dragule is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Makerere University, Uganda, with research focused on domain-specific languages and software engineering for robotics. He obtained his Licentiate Degree in Computer Science from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, following a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Mysore, India and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Islamic University in Uganda. He is also a certified Cisco CCNA Instructor and has undertaken additional professional training in Machine Learning and AI (Ningbo University, China), Applied Project Management (Chalmers University), and ICTs for Teaching and Learning (AVU & Commonwealth of Learning), among others.

Experience:

Mr. Swaib Dragule is a lecturer and researcher at Makerere University, Department of Computer Science, where he teaches Data Structures & Algorithms, Compiler Design, Advanced Programming, Simulation & Modelling, and Robotics. He supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects while contributing to collaborative research on domain-specific languages (DSLs) for robotics and AI-driven community applications.

Previously, he served at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), where he contributed to curriculum development, teaching, and scientific cooperation initiatives under COMSTECH. Beyond academia, he has led digital innovation and ICT consultancy projects with ABIDES Consultants (Arua) and community development programs with Nested Savings, where he spearheaded livelihood projects such as the award-winning Egg Bank Livelihood Project, funded under the Resilience Innovation Challenge for Adverse Climate Effects (RIC4ACE). His professional career also includes ICT support roles at GAB Communications, Uganda Limited, where he managed customer solutions, technical teams, and procurement.

He is particularly interested in compiler design, language theory, empirical software engineering, robotic simulation, and modelling approaches that enhance reliability and adaptability in multi-robot systems.
